Sew clothes

Learn to sew clothing under the guidance and support of a qualified school teacher and adult educator. Emma has written and delivered certified Fashion programs and been sewing since youth! With small class sizes students make great friends, receive mentoring and close assistance with projects.

Emma is an incredibly friendly and patient teacher who caters for all ability levels. I absolutely loved attending her class to sew my very first dress. - Natalie Trainor

Sew & sip

Classes are BYO fabric, basic haberdashery and sewing machine. We sew on Wednesdays 6.30-8 pm at my studio in Ormeau. Together we choose a pattern and sew the same design. You are welcome to bring your own project along and get help, provided it’s at an appropriate skill level for you. If you have a special project you would like to sew and the skills vary from what the group is doing, you would benefit from attending a VIP sew. See more about these by following the link bellow. Sip & Sew classes are $45 per night.

RSVP the week prior and pay to reserve your place

Event reference SS19

Due to COVID19 social group classes in my studio are currently paused. Private sews continue. We are happy to travel to your home where you can sew with your family members and close friends.

VIP sews

VIP classes are limited to just three students, so you get all the support and guidance of a private lesson, (without the added expense) and you get to meet other creatives! If you’re just beginning it is great to sew with company and guidance. The advantage is you can learn from my mistakes, rather than experiencing them all yourself! And advanced sewists, I want you to have the confidence to tackle a challenging, but rewarding garment! Maybe it’s time you made yourself something from silk? Insert boning into a bodice or work towards a really clean finish?

Private tuition

Private tuition standard rate is $99/hour for up to 4 participants

Gather a small group of friends weekly, fortnightly or monthly and sew beautiful custom clothing. I teach foundational skills through to advanced dress making techniques to give you a professional finish.

Sewing projects

Based on your skill level and interests we will choose a sewing project for you to create. You may use your own pattern, or choose from my resources. Custom resources made for you, including steps of construction, and explanation of new skills.

Do you have a special event that you would love to sew an outfit for? You may like an individual class, where we design your garment/s, source fabric and trim and create! Let me illustrate your design before we sew - or share with you the design process.

Haberdashery and learning resources supplied by teacher.

25% deposit required on initial booking.
